This romantic farce, full of disguises and role playing, deals with themes such as marriage and duty, reality and illusion, and compromise. One of Shakespeare's most clever and sophisticated comedies, The Taming of the Shrew was the basis for Cole Porter's musical Kiss Me Kate and the 1999 film 10 Things I Hate About You.
