The Fantasticks
August 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18 & 19, 2007
A musical at Theatre Bristol's ARTspace

Talk about a time-proven audience-pleaser! “Try to Remember” a time when this romantic charmer wasn’t enchanting audiences at New York’s Sullivan Street Playhouse. The Fantasticks is the longest-running musical in the world, and with good reason: at the heart of its breathtaking poetry and subtle theatrical sophistication is a purity and simplicity that transcends cultural barriers. The result is a timeless fable of love that manages to be nostalgic and universal at the same time.
Tickets: Adults $15, Seniors (over 62)/Students $12, Children (under 12) $8

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella
November 2, 3, 9, 10 & 11, 2007
A musical at the Paramount Center for the Arts

The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with the Rodgers & Hammerstein hallmarks of originality, charm and elegance. Originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, Rodger’s & Hammerstein’s CINDERELLA was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium. Its recreations in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren, and again in 1997 starring Brandy and Whitney Houston (and seen by over 60 million viewers) were no less successful in transporting new generations to the miraculous kingdom of dreams-come-true. As adapted for the stage, with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity, the hearts of children and adults alike still soar when the slipper fits. Musical Numbers include “In My Own Little Corner” “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?”
Tickets: Adults $15, Seniors (over 62)/Students $12, Children (under 12) $8

Kenneth Ludwig's
Lend Me a Tenor

February 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 & 17, 2008
A non-musical at Theatre Bristol's ARTspace

This night in 1934 is the biggest in the history of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company- world-famous tenor Tito Morelli is to perform Othello at the gala season-opener. Morelli sweeps in too late to rehearse with the company, and, through a series of hilarious mishaps, he gets a double dose of tranquilizers. His pulse is so low that Saunders and his assistant Max believe he is dead. What to do? Saunders persuades Max to get into Morelli’s costume and try to fool the audience into thinking he’s Il Stupendo. Morelli comes to and gets into his other costume. Now two Othellos are running around in costume and two women are running around in lingerie, each thinking she is with Il Stupendo! A sensation in New York and London, Lend Me A Tenor is guaranteed to leave your audiences teary-eyed with laughter.
Tickets: Adults $15, Seniors (over 62)/Students $12, Children (under 12) $8

Seussical, The Musical
March 14, 15 & 16, 2008
A musical at the Paramount Center for the Arts

“After all those years being stuck on a page, Did you ever imagine you’d see me onstage? Now I’m here, there’s no telling what may ensue! No, there’s no telling what! But I’ll give you a clue…” So says the mischievous Cat in the Hat at the onset of this fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (My Favorite Year, Ragtime) have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and all the Whos of Whoville! These classic, colorful tales are seamlessly brought together by Jojo, a young boy and “thinker of strange and wonderful thinks!” As each story unfolds you will marvel at how relevant and profound Seuss’ subtle themes are, making this musical one that appeals to all ages.
Tickets: Adults $15, Seniors (over 62)/Students $12, Children (under 12) $8

Cabaret
June 6, 7, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 & 22, 2008
A musical at Theatre Bristol's ARTspace

The scene is a nightclub in Berlin, as the 1920s are drawing to a close. The Emcee welcomes the audience to the show and assures them that, whatever their troubles, they will forget them at the Cabaret. His songs provide wry commentary throughout the show. On the train to Berlin we find Cliff, a young American writer, and Ernst, a German who surprises Cliff by putting a briefcase among Cliff’s luggage at the German border. History is in the process of being made. Musical numbers include “It Couldn’t Please Me More” “Wilkommen” “Cabaret” “Don’t Tell Mama” and “Two Ladies.” After a failed romance with English showgirl, Sally Bowles, we find Cliff on the train again, now leaving Berlin alone. He writes about Sally and the people of Berlin leading up to the Third Reich. It has been a tumultuous and heartbreaking era.
Tickets: Adults $15, Seniors (over 62)/Students $12, Children (under 12) $8
